•CONTACT METHOD: cacopheny @ plurk or PM this journal
•THREAD-JACKING: Go for it!
•FOURTH WALLING / CANON PUNCTURE: All okay except please don't call him Sebastian Stan please.
•BACKTAGGING: Yes!
•AVOIDED TOPICS: Not super into mind control.
•PREFERRED GENDER PRONOUN: She/her
IC CHARACTERISTICS:
•CURRENT CANON POINT: At the end of the movie, when he's been defeated by the protagonist and hurled into a burning barn. The Admiral scooped him up and made the offer rather than not telling him anything, so he is aware of why he's here.
•PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: First things first, Chase Collins does not look exactly like a teenaged Bucky Barnes with a modern haircut. I am not super interested in facetwin shenanigans with my own identity-challenged character. Feel free to say he looks kiiiiind of like him, but not to mistake-him-for-a-flood-version levels, please. Otherwise, he looks like your typical pretty young man with a slightly crooked front tooth, a cleft chin, a divot in his right ear, and piercing blue-gray eyes. If he's using magic, his eyes cloud over with inky darkness edged in fire-light. Yes, it is exactly as dramatic as it sounds. His voice is low and smooth, and clearly that of a teenage boy, though at least he no longer cracks embarrasingly! He smells clean, maybe a little bit like typical-teenage-boy-sweat and a little bit like very expensive aftershave, but only if he's actively trying to impress that day for some reason. Those with super-senses might pick up an elevated heart rate most of the time and his sweat smells more like stress than it probably should.
•DEMEANOR: Chase has three modes of operation: polite and proper teenage boy who has done nothing wrong ever, friendly and maybe slightly age-typical raunchy teenage boy with lots of energy and enthusiasm and curiosity, and full-scale evil diva. For the first few months, probably, everyone is getting the friendly and energetic teenage boy version, maybe with the occasional dash of suck-up to the adults. He is very physically active and not good at holding still, even to the point of being twitchy, often bouncing from foot to foot or fiddling with things in his environment, and his gaze bounces around a lot. When he shifts into evil diva mode, he's a lot more focused, especially considering by then he'll have his magic and that helps some with the focus and twitchiness.
•ABILITIES:
Magic: The Power is an inherited ability to control energy through motion and thought combined. It requires a strong will and a creative mind, as well as keeping your hands free, because hand and body motions direct the magic. It can do a lot of things.
- Movement: Magic allows one to move one's self from place to place (Chase calls this "ghosting" and it's more like going intangible and invisible than actual teleportation) as well as move objects around (like telekinesis). The latter requires hand and body motions to direct the power and can look a lot like dancing or single-combat forms like Tai Bo. Enough focus, and the wielder can even lift themselves and fly, to some extent.
- Energy: Magic can be gathered as energy, semi-visible as a warping of the air or in flashes of light. This energy can be used to blast, to trap, to bind, to fuel a fire, or meld broken glass back together.
- Summoning: Chase can summon imps, or small spider demons, to work as carriers for greater spells and, well, as pets. Stepping on or swatting them doesn't kill the spirit, just the form, sending the spirit itself back to whatever realm he pulled it from. He can also summon "darklings", or the spirits of the dead-- he thinks, anyway. It's possible he’s only summoning slightly higher orders of imps, but they show in the form of whatever dead person he's trying to summon. The canon doesn't make it clear whether these are true spirits or not.
- Curses: Magic can be refined through actual spells instead of just working as a force or energy, and this has many more applications, from causing pain or sickness, to sending nightmares. This kind of magic requires more preparation, and often an imp as a carrier, but has more long-lasting effects.
Acting: Combination gift and self-defense mechanism, Chase is a chameleon in social situations. Whether he's trying to win over a group of boys, charm a young lady unhappy with her jealous boyfriend, convince a teacher he's on his best behavior, or play the part of the most evil diva you ever met, he'll be what he thinks he needs to be for the situation.
Swimming: Chase was the top of his freestyle swimming team at his old school. He didn't even use his magic to cheat, he just enjoys swimming and is good at it.
•MEDICAL INFORMATION: Nothing pressing until he gets his magic back. At that point, he'll start dealing with magical-physical withdrawal unless he uses it daily (more than daily). Also, the more he uses, the more rapidly he'll start to age, but that probably won't be a problem in the span of his inmate tenure. This might be something a medical doctor might note if looking too closely at his blood, however.
•CABIN INFORMATION: Chase's door is a simple white bedroom door that leads to his bedroom in his home in Pennsylvania. It's a nice bedroom, with a queen bed, thick carpet, rugs on top of the carpet, and heavy curtains. The decor is upscale, mostly in white, silver, and purple. There are lots of extra pillows on the bed (or on the floor, if he's used the bed recently), a variety of books and crystals on the bookshelf, and a couple framed movie and band posters on the wall from around 2006.
•OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS: Talk to much about your mom and he's going to start getting grouchy. Talk about his parents and he's going to start getting brittle. (This is not a request for people to avoid these subjects. Please to bother him. Bother him a lot.)
IC PERMISSIONS:
•MENTAL: Everything except mind-control is a go, and that is my squick not his. Be aware that once he has his magic back he can and probably will be able to protect himself from some typical mental intrusions, once he's aware he needs to do so.
•MIMICRY: Absolutely, go for it!
•VIOLENCE: Oh please do, he will like it way more than he should.
•MAGIC: Magic fight magic fight!!!
•DEBATE: He will love this, please come ask him his opinions on things and argue with him.
•OTHER / NOTES: As stated above, I am not particularly interested in direct facetwin shenanigans with Chase and Bucky Barnes. Some similarity is good to go (hard to mistake those eyes) but they are not the same "person" and I really don't want to put B through that. However, should any other characters played by Sebastian Stan join the game, I'm happy for facetwin shenanigans with them!
