I think I'm glad we don't have any of those where I come from. That's the last thing I need.

They don't always interfere, from what I've been told.

Same difference in that case, I guess. If there are gods in my world, I don't think they get involved.

[He makes a little face. Unless that was a god who spiked up Caleb's magic.]

At least I don't think they do. They never did in any obvious way.

[Chase can be polite when he wants to, so he politely doesn't look skeptical. He doubts this connection will last longer than a week. If that. But he knows how to treat adults, so he just shrugs, giving an awkward little:]
