Why has your magic been denied you?

[He can read the report, but hearing from Chase himself tells him far more.]

[Well, there's no report yet, as this is just a temp arrangement. Poor Song Zichen gets to stay completely in the dark about Chase's actual powers and motivations for now, because Chase sure as hell isn't spilling to a guy he hasn't even met yet.]

That's a thing all inmates get, right? Our powers are taken away until a warden gives them back.

I have a little bit of my magic still, but only a tiny bit.

[While that's fair, it does make him suspicious. Song Zichen isn't a pleasant fairy, granting wishes. He is a man who has been tortured for years by a dark spell or two.]

Powers that are innocent do not concern the Admiral. Your magic had to have been strong enough to gain his notice.

Let me ask you this: what do you plan to do with it?

Practice lifting things. Teleport around instead of having to take the stairs or the elevator. Try some of the more complex spells I found in the library. Fly.

If you're not going to do it, then whatever. You asked what I needed, that's the only thing I need.

I don't mind you lifting things, teleporting or flying. It's the spells you have found that concern me. Will you show them to me?

[The signs are embarrassing, but Zichen's sign probably takes the cake if that is of any reassurance. When you sleep with your mortal enemy, everyone needs to know.]
